These two are from Rocky Mountain National Park. Even though it was snowy, cloudy & cold, it sure was beautiful (the drive to Estes Park was fantastic too). It was interesting as we piled 7 of us into Matt's truck (us 4 plus Debbie, Charlie & Michelle), thinking we would have to pay admission to the park. Since we got there so late, we could get in for free, although we could not drive through the whole park since it snowed the night before. The bottom picture is one of many Elk we saw while driving around there. The AAA book said it was Elk mating season in March and that they would be everywhere and they were right. And they like to stop traffic, just like the Buffalo did when we were in South Dakota in 2004.

These are of Eisenhower Tunnel. It was cool driving through this tunnel after watching how it was built on Modern Marvels (a show on the History Channel & also on PBS). It is about 1 mile long and they have their own Fire Department in case of an accident. Speaking of accidents, we saw a couple of them going through the Rockies on our way to Moab, UT. Definitely some steep grades and you definitely didn't want to see a semi flying at you in your rear view mirror

These photos are in the Ski Resort Area near Vail. The first one is the rest area at the top of Vail Pass, which is almost at an elevation of 11,000 feet! It was an uphill walk from where we parked to get to the restrooms and you felt how thin the air was. They had received snow Friday and Saturday night (March 23rd & 24th), the photos were taken Sunday, March 25 as we were headed to Moab, UT. It seemed that EVERYONE from Eastern Colorado were headed to the slopes that day.
More photos to come, I only took 400 and some!
